WEAKNESSES: Tohru's persona is completely defensive, so he has to rely on his own strength for attacking, and while he isn't bad, he's still generally at a disadvantage. His weapons are projectiles, although they can be used as regular blades in a pinch, but he generally tries to avoid close combat. His persona is particularly weak to Zio skills.

Tohru, himself, could be described as one lacking proper judgment. He's set in his views and isn't afraid to act upon his beliefs. However, should one realize his perceptions, he could be easily misled. So long as he believes he is doing as he pleases, he can cater to another's wishes unknowingly.

STRENGTHS: Despite his disadvantages, Tohru is rather clever and can work around them well. He will try to stage fights to his advantage and he's quite versatile with his weapon. As for battle strategies, he tends to plan ahead, but when the need for impulse arises, it's hit or miss-- everything is up to Lady Luck then. His persona is strong against strike attacks.

PERSONALITY: Cold, heartless eyes under the facade of a warm glow. What exactly lurks beneath them? Even Tohru himself hasn't really stopped to consider it. He doesn't often focus his thoughts inwardly, but to that of the disgusting world around him. The world needed changing... He is one to believe in such a thing. He's not foolish enough to take on the task alone, nor does he feel there is such a person who exists, but nonetheless, little by little, he'll take his own steps in that direction, not because he believes it will ignite a change but perhaps for some personal satisfaction.

He's generally withdrawn and softspoken. He isn't concerned with things like friendship or making the most of his high school years. His mind is already beyond that. However, if you can prove that your companionship-- even if temporary-- can be beneficial to him, he'll consider the value.

Still, in the end, he's just a kid who feels more in control of his own life than he really is. He's so convinced in everything that he does that he doesn't realize he's fallen until it's too late. This can pertain to everyday minor trifles to life-changing, perhaps even threatening events.

BACKGROUND: The world is a cruel place. Sometimes it takes away a loved one or two or four. It was a break and entering on a dark, stormy night. Like something you'd read in a mystery novel, perhaps. It probably wasn't meant to have turned so serious... Some things happened, things went wrong, Tohru wasn't sure what so he couldn't possibly remember. The burglars got antsy and blood was shed. It was a quiet evening at home with his mom and dad and older brother, but by the time the sun rose, only Tohru was left.

Why Tohru? Why was he left unharmed? The burglars didn't know it-- well, neither did Tohru-- but there was something protecting him then. It was a reflex-- something innate that triggered once they attacked him... A Persona, of course, though he wouldn't realize that-- No, he still hasn't realized it. The memory is more of a bad dream in his mind-- nothing more, nothing less, and he hasn't decided to reflect upon to make more sense.

It doesn't matter. It's past. Behind him. Long forgotten and he'll keep it that way. He was brought to an orphanage where he was raised with kids of similar circumstances and kids of completely unrelated circumstances, but all of them brought together by circumstances nonetheless, but that didn't make him feel like he belonged or anything. He wasn't looking to belong. He wasn't looking to fill the void of his past. His eyes had always been and will always be on the future.

And he was smart, very capable of any future which he could have desired. When he was only 14, just one year ago, he got a job-- No, he made a job for himself. It was naturally one which would coincide with his vision of the future-- a purer world. Surely there were many people out there who wished for one. He just happened to have the ambition and perhaps lack the fear that most have.

But, he was able to afford a place of his own and enroll himself into school without being a burden on the orphanage that was already so kind to him. In fact, he had enough to give back to them as well. It wasn't charity; he was simply doing it because he felt like it and it seemed another tiny way that he could help change the world.

Despite his seeming obsession with the fate of the world versus its current status, he's not necessarily a radical. He tries to be realistic about his approaches, and he may succeed when it comes down to the minor details, but he fails to look at the big picture. Rather, he knows he can't see the big picture, and perhaps he's waiting for someone who he believes can. He's been leaving his calling card at the scenes of his handiwork, waiting for an invitation from someone. He doesn't know how long he'll have to wait, but he believes the welcome will come.
